Community Connections & Events

Hallowe'en in the Booro was a big hit! Ninety-one children and almost double that number in parents or grandparents came to Mark Street United Church on October 25th to go Trick or Treating. The children were cute, friendly and ever so polite. It was a beautiful evening weatherwise and yet the warmth of community was "heavenly". We would like to extend our appreciation to the Peterborough DBIA for providing us with the candy to share.
Kawartha Food Share - The Outreach Committee would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Kawartha Food Share. Seventy-one (71) pounds of food and a $25 cheque were delivered to the warehouse this week. The volunteers there appeared to be very grateful as the shelves were fairly cleared out following their Thanksgiving sharing with those among us who are food insecure.
Scams and Fraud Presentation
Ryan and Mike from the Peterborough Police Department came to MSUC to speak to us about Scams and Fraud. Thirty-six of us were in attendance and everyone seemed very interested and engaged in the interactive discussions and experiences. Let it be said that we learned much about how to protect ourselves from these con artists who seem to lurk everywhere.
