Intercultural Ministries

February is BLACK HISTORY Month.  As we welcome February, the 2020 theme for Black History Month is "Canadians of African Descent: Going forward, guided by the past." This is inspired by the theme of the United Nations’ International Decade for People of African Descent (UN IDPAD, 2015-2024). The Sankofa bird symbolizes this theme—"feet forward, head turned backward"; the idea of reflecting on the past to build a successful future.  While Intercultural Ministries is fully committed to seeking justice against all forms of racism, February's Black History Month helps us to focus specifically on anti-Black racism.  (From the United Church of Canada, Intercultural Ministries, January 30, 2020 Newsletter)
